Result description
The integrated FBG–DAS/DTS sensing platform delivers a comprehensive hydrogen leak detection capability that exceeds the performance of conventional systems by combining high-sensitivity point measurements with fully distributed acoustic and temperature monitoring. This hybrid approach significantly reduces false alarms; particularly those typically produced by distributed systems, by cross-validating multiple sensing modalities and applying advanced data-processing methods, including machine-learning classifiers and stability-corrected algorithms.
Addressing target audiences and expressing needs
- Fellowship to advance my/our research
Although the project has successfully advanced the combined FBG–DAS/DTS sensing system to TRL5–6 and demonstrated its feasibility through representative testing campaigns, several targeted research and validation activities remain necessary to reach higher TRLs and prepare the solution for deployment at industrial scale. These activities aim to consolidate system performance, expand operational robustness and ensure that the technology matures within a regulatory and commercial framework that supports real-world adoption.
