Result description
Molecular method that identifies the presence of Anisakis simplex through a genetic analysis in any fish species. This kit is portable and easy to use for non-experts. Results is obtained in 15 minutes. Main advantage compared to other existing molecular kits is the size and the easiness to use and cost-effectiveness (cost price: 7 Eur/reaction). The method has 2 parts:
- Specific primers and DNA probe developed by AZTI. That allow to amplify and identify the specific fragment of A. simplex.
- TwistDX kit (amplification reaction, this commercial kit has the advantage that it is quick and easy to be carried out). Recombinant proteins that allow to amplify the selected DNA isothermally (Methodology used RPA = Recombinase Polymerase Amplification).
Addressing target audiences and expressing needs
- Business partners – SMEs, Entrepreneurs, Large Corporations
- Marketing Mentoring or Coaching
- Business plan development
- Expanding to more markets /finding new customers
Certification companies, kit manufacturers or fish farm managers with a vested interest in detecting and preventing Anisakis. Because the current output has been lab tested, we are specifically looking for a partner with whom we can pursue pilot testing and commercialisation activities with.
Further down the line, we would also be interested in working with potential users of this technology at the retail level, including restaurateurs and fish mongers.
- Other Actors who can help us fulfil our market potential
R&D, Technology and Innovation aspects
The method has been validated at lab scale (TRL 6).
