The Project has developed the ONEedge solution and its business model using an agile methodology to iteratively bring the solution from a technology demonstrated in several relevant environments (TRL6) to a complete, qualified final product (TRL8). Now, after Project termination, we are working to bring the platform to full commercial application and market deployment (TRL9), and to scale up the user base and the resource provider community around following an open source model that fosters both the utilization of the software and the integration of cloud/edge infrastructure resources. These stages will prepare our expansion and leadership in the market during the subsequent “Business Acceleration Phase” .
All operational and commercial aspects have been defined to be highly scalable:
- Streamlined offering: We sell the same offering to all customers with the same product and process.
- Scalable offering: We can sell the offering to an infinite number of additional customers with little or no incremental cost or direct labor for each additional customer.
- Scalable operations: The increase in the number of subscriptions delivered generates a decrease in the average overall cost of each subscription.
- Scalable financial model: We are paid by the customer up front – prior to the subscription and to bearing the cost of delivering the offering – which enables us to grow

With Edge Computing having been identified as one of the major disruptors in the cloud and data infrastructure sectors, it became crucially important to make sure that new technological innovations, especially those that provide a significant competitive advantage, were really accessible to as many companies as possible. ONEedge, as an open source project that will lower the barriers of adoption for both large organizations and SMBs across and beyond Europe, encapsulates that principle and provides a safeguard against edge computing becoming a technology only accessible to large corporations.
