Our Thermal Energy Storage (TES) materials can be applicable to any thermal energy storage necessity, when the needed temperature range is between 110 to 550 °C. This can be of help for processes when the energy is not produced at the same time or same quantity than consumed, for example renewable energy from solar sources or batch chemical processes.
Fertiberia’s TES materials can be applicable to any thermal energy storage necessity, when the needed temperature range is between 110 to 550 °C. This can be of help for processes when the energy is not produced at the same time or same quantity than consumed, for example renewable energy from solar sources or batch chemical processes. The main novelty of this material in comparison with the state of the art (solar salt) is the wide range of temperatures covered, including a very low melting point (110 °C) and its better properties, due to the fact that Fertiberia’s formulation is a eutectic mixture. That means it behaves as a unique component (only one melting point, stable properties, easy to melt and better decomposition properties among others). Since the melting point is very low compared to the rest of formulation, when there is no energy supply the material can be stored for a very long time without the need of a high amount of energy consumption to keep it melted and without crystallization risk.

Fertiberia is planning to build a new potassium nitrate plant which can also produce the TES material.
