Result description
The BROMEDIR FTIR spectrometer combines a novel Photonics integrated circuit (PIC) Micro Electro-Mechanical System (MEMS) chip developed by SIWARE, assembled together with a suitable light source and a photodetector. Its operation has been validated in the lab (TRL 4) for operation up to 8.5 μm. The currect version of the system is 15 x 10 x 12 cm and weights 1.1 kg.

R&D, Technology and Innovation aspects
The result is at TRL 4. We are looking into sutiable EIC funding for reaching first TRL 6 for two specific application domains (agriculture and human health)
The technology is scalable due to: a) possibility to easily change light source and photodetector to meet differnet application requirements, b) suitability to meet the requirements of multiple application domains, c) strong presence of SIWARE in the market and links to all necessary actors.
SIWARE has the necesary production capacity and collaborators to produce the spectrometer in virtually unlimited number
The busisess model is based on: a) hardware sell of the miniaturised spectrometer for multiple application domains, b) fees on the use of SIWARE’s applications library (like an App store), where users can upload their own software applications exploiting the spectrometer and some software tools. It has already been highly successful for the sale and growth of SIWARE’s NIR spectrometer (commercial product).
