This KER consists of an aerial robot that is able to install surveying targets on bridges or viaducts. These targets are small devices that can be used later to improve the accuracy of visual inspections (i.e. having a ruler) or to take geometric measurements of the structure with a total station (i.e. with a reflective part). This is achieved by being in contact with the viaduct’s structure. The aerial robot can perform this installation autonomously or in assisted mode.

In the short term, PILOTING is seeking for this KER to find a sponsor that could help to increase the TRL of our solution. Maybe the first early adopters could be new EU research projects running beyond the timeline of PILOTING.

R&D, Technology and Innovation aspects
The first development of the aerial robotic manipulator has been accomplished. The functionalities of the aerial platform with contact capabilities have been verified in the facilities of the GRVC lab under controlled conditions. It has been tested under realistic environments, in viaducts in Alcalá de Guadaira (Sevilla) and Alora (Malaga).
This technology can also be used by aerial robots endowed with the capacity to perform manipulation tasks on surfaces similar to viaducts and bridges infrastructure, ensuring the precision of the location of the target installation and the safety of the environment.
