IndustryOpt is a framework developed in Flex4Fact with the goal of providing a flexible and robust optimisation tool that allows the integration of job scheduling problems and energy system models, e.g. EnergyModelsX (EMX). The model minimises total industrial cost while meeting short-term operational constraints in the manufacturing and local energy system, and decides optimal long-term energy-related decision (i.e., investments, ppa contracts). IndustryOpt follows a modular design to allow the combination of multiple models. In the most simple form, one scheduling model and a local energy-system model allows to optimise the cost of a single industry. However, the framework is built to allow the expansion to different interactions (e.g., local energy markets). The framework was developed in Julia and is based on the Julia package Plasmo.jl , and accepts standard optimization solvers like Gurobi or Xpress.

IndustryOpt has been used to perform techno-economic assessments of the 5 industrial use-cases in the project. The tool also provided input to LCA enabling aligned environmental impact assessments for the use-cases.
