The principal target group for Fault Detection are Distribution System Operators (DSO). DSO can benefit from FDA by enhancing monitoring and automated control of the distribution grid to significantly reduce
the duration of power outages. The traditional methods used for fault detection in a distribution network are based on visual inspection after receiving the complaint from customers. Hence, traditional fault
detection methods are unable to locate faults quickly. Once a fault has occurred and reported, a crew is sent to locate it and fix it. All the actions required from fault occurrence to fault restoration usually are
measured in hours causing significant loses for the operators and inconvenience for customers. Automatic fault detection methods allow for substantial reduction of this time.
Addressing target audiences and expressing needs
- Grants and Subsidies
- Business partners – SMEs, Entrepreneurs, Large Corporations
- I/we wish to transfer my/our IPR to an interested party
We seek to license the technology to a commercial entity, either to integrate it in the next generation distribution management systems to provide intelligence to legacy distribution management systems by requesting flexibility services.
- Public or private funding institutions
- Other Actors who can help us fulfil our market potential
- Research and Technology Organisations
R&D, Technology and Innovation aspects
Currently the technology is being demonstrated at the FEVER pilot sites. After the project both technical and product valorisation activities have been identified. UdG envisions to identify proof of concept/regional funding opportunities to increase TRL next to market to:
- test and qualify (TRL 8) the prototype and the validation at operational (TRL 9) scenario.
- Regarding transference, business models are required to be analyzed and a business plan has to be defined. Also, marketing strategies with their associated dissemination plan and internationalization is required.
The solution is designed as a flexible, scalable and customisable solution focused on providing flexibility to the energy power system.Web services provide a straightforward integration with other frameworks ready to be integrated with Distribution Management Systems (DMS), IoT middleware or other facility operation software.
