Result description
The euPOLIS Blending Matrix is a planning and evaluation tool that supports the integration of new NBS interventions with the urban, social and economic characteristics of the surrounding neighbourhood. Developed with Biopolus and published in euPOLIS public documentation, it structures project assessment and design guidance across four complementary dimensions: functional integration (connection to infrastructure and services), social integration (alignment with community needs, cultural practices and local dynamics), aesthetic integration (visual and spatial coherence), and economic integration (use of local resources, cost reduction and shared value creation). The matrix helps ensure NBS projects contribute positively to neighbourhood life, moving beyond “low impact” toward positive impact development where interventions actively strengthen the urban fabric and raise well-being. It is field-ready (TRL 8) and can be used in masterplanning, project design, approvals and tender processes, typically delivered through consultancy and training.
