Result description
EnergyModelsFlex is developed and implemented as a part of the overall framework of EnergyModelsX. This package enables to model process scheduling flexibility in different ways for manufacturing facilities, enabling to assessments of the impact of scheduling flexibility on operational strategies in the manufacturing facilities, as well as the pathways towards net-zero manufacturing.
Addressing target audiences and expressing needs
- To raise awareness and possibly influence policy
- Help in technical expertise
We aim to spread and further develop EnergyModelsX as a versatile tool for energy systems modelling, and that the use of and results from this framework are used to guide research, innovation and policy in the energy and industrial sectors.

R&D, Technology and Innovation aspects
EnergyModelsX is a mature framework for energy systems modelling. The package EnergyModelsFlex is developed and implemented, and validated against a set of use cases. The next steps is to further develop EnergyModelsFlex to include more flexibility options, and validate the package against further cases.
The framework can be used for isolated cases or geographically spread systems, providing high scaleability
Developed modules and packages can easily be modified to different cases and/or scenarios, providing high replicability
EnergyModelsX is open-source, and developed by research organizations with SINTEF AS and SINTEF Energy Research in the lead to maintain a high standard of the framework
