The main categories of potential customers and/or users of the proposed solution include: building professionals (e.g., EPC assessors, architects, engineering companies, retrofitting/construction companies, ESCOs, software developers), building end-users (e.g., occupants/owners and facility managers), policy actors (e.g., regional, National and International policymakers and public authorities, standardization bodies).

At this stage the core development of the digital platform tool has finished, such as the back-end, the front-end client, the data repository and ongoing activities including the additional services provided by the different subcomponents. The main functionalities of the tool have been developed and are fully operational at this point. The solution is scalable and can be easily expanded and/or migrated to another host server.

The D2EPC digital platform can provide the means and state-of-the-art technology for improving performance assessment and certification, strengthening the role of the EPC and rendering it a tailor-made instrument with personalized instructions for homeowners, investors, and construction professionals. It employs a variety of modules, APIs and interfaces for data processing, analysis and visualisation and combines visual analytics, AI techniques, and data analytics to design and implement the next-generation of EPCs, integrated with BIM models, and novel indicators. It also takes into account the user’s needs and requirements and provides user-friendly applications and services with enhanced user awareness.

The tool is fully scalable and replicable and can be integrated into existing platform solutions as it has been developed with open-source software. Additionally, it can be easily expanded and migrated to any hosting environment while also maintaining all its functionalities.

The D2EPC digital platform realizes a dynamic strategy for EPCs in order to empower the regular energy classification of buildings, based on their operational performance, to promote building performance improvements and play a crucial role in this process. The proposed dynamic EPCs can constitute an important driver for building performance monitoring, building energy management, and building renovation planning and therefore reduce building energy consumption, decrease environmental impacts, and improve inhabitants’ quality of life. Generating EPCs from BIM models creates a replicable and robust approach to evaluate energy labels and facilitates building experts to easily access the physical and functional characteristics of the building, as well as speeding up the process of EPC calculation. The extensive data source for all the certified buildings can deliver useful information for energy-related policies and adjust building energy-related regulations at the urban scale.
