Result description
The overall objective of CLIMFOR is the development of a short-to-medium-term atmosphere Big Data forecasting system. Despite its potential use across several vertical industries (water resources management, marine, health care, etc.), the initial focus of our system will be concentrated on energy, agriculture and climate applications. The technology is based on original self-organizing modelling technologies using high-resolved space-based earth observation data stored and maintained in a Big Data platform. The use of non-interpolated data sources (i.e., models developed individually based on the earth observation and in situ data collected) is key to ensure high-spatial resolution.
The final full system will consist of millions of self-learning predictive models interconnected to a virtual grid around the earth’s surface deploying distributed High-performance Computing, which makes it a “living”, artificially intelligent forecasting system. This innovation will constitute a clear breakthrough relative to existing forecasting solutions in the targeted application fields.
Addressing target audiences and expressing needs
- Grants and Subsidies
- Expanding to more markets /finding new customers
Industry partners in energy, agritech or climate who are keen to join a pilot project funded by ESA/EU/other programs. Collaboration for developing customized solutions in such a project.
- Public or private funding institutions
- Other Actors who can help us fulfil our market potential
R&D, Technology and Innovation aspects
Technological design and implementation of single-node self-organizing modeling into a connected grid for high-resolution forecasting of atmosphere dynamics in a high-performance computing cluster will start in Spring 2020. The result will be a scalable prototype for demo applications and reference.
Our atmosphere forecasting system generates predictive information and adapts to many weather/climate dependent businesses: energy, agritech, tourism, marine, space.
Geopredict’s CLIMFOR forecasting system will be applicable to any region for different use cases.
