Result description
This result provides a comprehensive set of case study analyses across the textile, construction, biochemical, and bioplastics sectors, all of which face significant challenges under the current linear economic model. The studies examined the sectors’ environmental, social, and economic pressures and assessed how existing practices align with the transition toward circular and bio-based systems. Through this work, SUSTRACK tested and refined its proposed monitoring framework, identifying gaps, improvement needs, and key indicators that better reflect sector-specific realities.
The analyses generated valuable insights into barriers, opportunities, and transition pathways for each sector, supporting evidence-based decision-making for policymakers, industry actors, and other stakeholders. The results highlight where policy adjustments, innovation efforts, and sustainability interventions are most needed to accelerate systemic change. Together, these sectoral case studies form a solid knowledge base that can inform strategic planning, support future research, and guide actions aimed at fostering a more circular and sustainable European economy.
