CSIC will continue the on-going software design improvements and their respective validation in real operational environments. The target users’ group is the ecosystem of solution developers for embedded decision-making in the context of ADAS and highly automate driving. We are looking for synergies with industrial partners within such ecosystem to launch higher TRL projects with the ambition to validate and upscale the designed technology in real applications.

The singularity of the approach (context-aware and safe by design) provides CSIC with a competitive advantage in a market (SAE L3-L4) still in formation. Patent application by 2022. This AD function is central for CSIC research activity. As a result, the whole team, currently composed of 9 members, and estimated to 15 by 2024, will be affected by the successful development of the reachability estimator.
Public funding will be required for a more dependable and qualifiable solution. In pararllel, a solid business model and plan will be prepared. Private investors will be thereafter required to upscale the prototype towards an automotive-grade mass-market solution.
Urban automated driving is still far from being commercially available, but it will represent a very important market share in the following 5-8 years and will likely remain active for decades.
