ABLE Exoskeleton is a wearable lower-limb robotic exoskeleton that actively assists individuals with mobility impairments to stand up, walk, turn and sit down. It consists of a bilateral rigid brace that attaches to the torso, legs and feet of the user via straps. It has four battery-powered motors that drive the knee and hip joints assisting in flexion-extension, and two passive ankle joints. The product incorporates the latest technologies in robotics, electric motors, power electronics, manufacturing technologies and wireless connectivity to maximize the autonomy of the patient and promote the neurorehabilitation process. The exoskeleton is intended to perform ambulatory functions in rehabilitation institutions, with the use of walking aids (a walker or crutches), and under the supervision of a trained therapist. It can be used by people weighing up to 100kg and a height between 150 and 190cm.
Clinical benefits include improvement in dosage and tolerance for gait training, patient quality of life and well-being, mobility independence, body motor function, therapist efficiency and patient safety.
