FIT Programme – Applied Research, Innovation & Technology Transfer (Schleswig-Holstein)

The FIT Programme is part of Schleswig-Holstein’s Economic Development Programme (LPW 2021–2027), co-financed by the ERDF. It promotes applied research and experimental development that contribute to a climate-neutral, resource-efficient, and innovation-driven economy. The program facilitates the transfer of scientific knowledge and emerging technologies into practical applications, supporting transformation processes in both science and industry. It also aims to intensify collaboration between research institutions and companies, particularly SMEs, and foster structural innovation capacity in key technological fields.

Expected Outcome

The programme aims to:

  • Strengthen Schleswig-Holstein's innovation ecosystem

  • Accelerate commercialization of R&D outcomes

  • Enhance the capacity of SMEs and research institutes to engage in transformative innovation

  • Support the shift toward a sustainable and circular economy

  • Increase cross-sector collaboration and public-private partnerships

  • Contribute to climate protection, digital advancement, and long-term economic resilience

Scope

The programme supports a wide range of R&D and innovation-related activities:

  • Applied and industrial research projects in collaboration between academia and industry

  • Feasibility studies for early-phase concepts

  • Establishment and expansion of research infrastructure

  • Cross-sectoral innovation networks and clusters

  • Development of structures for systematic knowledge and technology transfer

Thematic focus areas align with the RIS3.SH strategy, including energy and environmental technologies, digitalization, health and life sciences, maritime economy, and sustainable mobility. Projects must show a clear regional benefit and potential for future market impact.
