European Partnership for Brain Health

This call establishes a co-funded European Partnership to coordinate and support transnational research and innovation (R&I) activities in the area of brain health, with a strong focus on neurodegenerative diseases and related disorders. It is part of a broader EU strategy to align national and regional R&I agendas, reduce fragmentation, and address the societal burden of brain-related diseases through joint programming.

The partnership aims to generate synergies between national funders, build on existing initiatives like the EU Joint Programme – Neurodegenerative Disease Research (JPND), and mobilize the community across disciplines, sectors, and borders. It will also contribute to the implementation of Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan, mental health strategies, and digital health innovations related to neurology.

Expected Outcome

  • A coordinated and sustainable European R&I framework for brain health.

  • Reduced duplication and enhanced alignment of R&I efforts across Europe.

Scope

The partnership will:

  • Develop and implement joint R&I agendas on brain health, prioritizing areas such as dementia, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's, and other neurodegenerative conditions.

  • Launch co-funded transnational calls and provide support for collaborative research projects.

  • Support capacity building, data infrastructures, and clinical trial platforms.

  • Engage with patients, healthcare providers, regulators, and the broader innovation ecosystem.

  • Address key challenges such as early diagnosis, disease prevention, personalized treatment, and brain health across the lifespan.
