Result description

A maintenance vehicle was equipped with sensors for acquiring the rail profile. The developed software allows to analyze the acquired data in order to plan maintenance interventions in advance, foreseeing and estimating the wear that could occur in the future in the tramway lines. This equipment can be very interesting for tramway operators, track maintenance is an important item for both safety and economic impact.

Current stage description

Currently the system installed on the maintenance vehicle is not particularly engineered, it has been adapted to our specific maintenance vehicle, although it has all the features necessary for data acquisition. In the future, optimization of sensors and improvements in predictive analysis of the acquired data are planned.

Track maintenance is usually carried out manually by maintenance technicians, with a waste of time and with very low resolutions. The installed tool, in addition to making the acquisition automatic, has the advantage of allowing predictive maintenance, rather than on temporal frequencies, regardless of the real wear of the rails.
