Result description
OCHSNER developed 3 heat pump prototypes of improved efficiency with a capacity between 20 and 80 kW. All machines use one ON-OFF Scroll compressor and R407c as refrigerant.
OCHSNER Heat pump Type GMWW23plus (capacity 13 kW): COP optimization was achieved by theoretical calculation and configuration of refrigerant cycle with subcooler and design and optimization of the refrigerant injection device.
OCHSNER Heat pump Type GMWW38 HK S (capacity 37 kW, both internally and externally reversible). Both condenser and evaporator are flat plate made of stainless steel.
OCHSNER Heat pump Type OWWP 56 SD, (capacity 58 kW, water side reversible): COP optimization was achieved by optimization of evaporator and condenser, design of optimum refrigerant distributor for evaporator with the goal of optimizing refrigerant-impingement for increasing the evaporation pressure on the refrigerant side, minimizing the amount of refrigerant for all three refrigeration circuits, dimensioning and specification of refrigerant lines and heat pump components.

R&D, Technology and Innovation aspects
Recently introduced regulations on F-gases will make these prototypes obsolete in the next years. Technology adaptation with new low GWP refrigerants is necessary.
