European partnership fostering a European Research Area (ERA) for health research (Phase 2)

This call continues the development of a co-funded European Partnership aiming to build and consolidate a strong and coordinated European Research Area (ERA) in health. It supports transnational collaboration among national and regional research funders and stakeholders to tackle major health challenges more effectively and coherently across Europe.

In this Phase 2, the partnership expands and deepens efforts to coordinate national R&I programmes, pool resources, and align strategies in critical health domains. It fosters synergies across EU Member States and Horizon Europe instruments, improving efficiency, inclusiveness, and societal impact in European health research.

Expected Outcome

  • A well-integrated ERA for health research.

  • Reduction of fragmentation in health R&I funding and governance.

  • More impactful, efficient, and responsive health research policies.

  • Enhanced uptake of research results into policy, practice, and innovation.

  • Stronger alignment between European, national, and regional health priorities.

Scope

Proposals should focus on:

  • Strengthening the coordination of national and regional health research programmes.

  • Supporting joint transnational calls, policy alignment, and strategic R&I agenda development.

  • Fostering excellence in research infrastructures, training, and capacity building.

  • Enhancing citizen engagement, science-policy dialogue, and knowledge translation into healthcare.

  • Promoting cross-border collaboration, including with low-performing R&I countries and international partners.
