Community CoLabs: Strengthening Transnational Climate Innovation

This autumn, Climate KIC embarked on a European roadshow delivering a series of Community CoLabs to re-energise engagement across its Community and catalyse place-based climate action. Community CoLabs (Collaboration Laboratories), launched in 2025, provide a platform for multi-stakeholder dialogue and co-creation. They reflect Climate KIC’s mission to orchestrate systemic change by connecting public and private actors across value chains, sectors, and regions.

The four CoLabs (in Ljubljana, Cagliari, Barcelona and Warsaw) were co-designed with ministries, universities, innovation agencies and community partners to ensure relevance and actionable outcomes. Sessions combined systems thinking, peer learning and facilitated exploration to generate concrete collaboration opportunities. Topics included circularity as a competitiveness driver (Slovenia), blue and green economy pathways (Sardinia), community-led housing for climate-neutral cities (Barcelona), and green public-private partnerships (Poland).

Support for ecosystem mobilisation and cross-regional collaboration will help us expand participation, refine the methodology, and translate CoLab outcomes into sustained innovation pathways.
