Energy-Flexibility Production Scheduling Platform (EFPSP)

Result description

The Energy-Flexibility Production Scheduling Platform (EFPSP) is a mobile enabled webapp that optimises factory schedules vs energy prices while respecting manufacturing constraints. It has three core modules:

  1. Baseline: defining optimal production plan to minimize costs,
  2. Internal optimization: generating alternative production plans for cluster optimisation,
  3. External optimization: generating flexibility offers to external services of the grid.

The EFPSP can exchange daily forecasts and optimisation results with other dedicated SW applications, collect raw data via dedicated APIs/Connectors, store data in dedicated Azure Data Lake containers, process data / results using ETL, and store them in Azure MongoDB dedicated instances, all protected by Azure Key Vault and 2FA. In a project’s modular multi‑layer architecture, i.e., connection, data, analytics, presentation, and security, the EFPSP sits in the presentation layer as the production module.

We specifically need / are looking for

To successfully implement the EFPSP tool at the end-user/pilot site, We Plus would benefit from further funding and collaboration with potential end-users to improve the tool and make it more robust and industrialized, as well as direct collaboration with interested companies in installation, integration, and testing of the tool in their own premises, providing case-by-case internal technical assistance with integrating the tool within their existing systems.

Current stage description

The tool is currently installed within Flex4Fact pilot (SPS) to be tested in the next 12 months. We Plus and the SPS algorithm developer UPC, will monitor the testing and will provide continuous technical support, as well as acquire feedback provided by SPS to improve the tool and bring it further towards industrialization. Business wise, a business plan will be developed.

Replicability

The EFPSP tool is cloud based hence replication in cloud requires rather short time, while replication within physical systems, e.g., local servers, or integration with specific IT and sensory platforms, is TBD case by case (both for the algorithm and the IT infrastructure). The algorithms can be replicated with low effort if the process is very similar.

Sustainability

The business model will be developed within the 12 months following the end of the project
