Listing Description
The Risk Severity Quantification Module is TRIQUETRA’s mechanism within the DSS Platform for translating CH site context and integrated risk model outputs into consistent, site-specific risk severity information. It brings together heterogeneous datasets and model results across the project’s hazard categories—Climate-Related Hazards; Extreme Water, Snow and Ice Hazards; Geological and Geophysical Hazards; Chemical and Biological Hazards; Damage and Failure Modes; and Multi-Hazard (cascading effects)—and supports both quantitative and qualitative/non-numerical approaches, depending on model availability and data type. Outputs are presented in a comparable way across pilot sites (including synthetic hazard severity visualisations where applicable), enabling interpretation, prioritisation and evidence-based decision support within the DSS. The module is designed to be extendable over time through controlled integration of additional model outputs and datasets, ensuring that risk severity assessment can be updated as new evidence becomes available.
Addressing target audiences and expressing needs
- Help in technical expertise
- Use of research Infrastructure
- Collaboration
We seek pilot partners (heritage authorities/site managers) to apply the framework on real sites and validate risk outputs for decision-making and funding prioritisation. We also look for hazard/climate data providers and technical experts to integrate projections and multi-hazard layers (coastal, geological, chemical/biological) and to benchmark models against monitoring and historical evidence.

R&D, Technology and Innovation aspects
Multi-hazard modelling and risk severity assessment framework developed within TRIQUETRA, integrating KBP geospatial/knowledge inputs with hazard and climate information (including projections when available). Produces comparable quantified risk outputs designed to feed prioritisation and be refined with monitoring data.
Yes — the framework is designed to reuse shared inputs from KBP and standard hazard/climate datasets, enabling replication across many sites/regions and incremental improvement as better projections and monitoring data become available.
The Risk quantification framework for CH, can be sustained as a reusable assessment service and decision-support component for heritage authorities and consultants. Long-term sustainability options include: (a) licensing the framework/models as part of an integrated TRIQUETRA toolkit, (b) service contracts for risk assessments at site/portfolio level (including periodic updates as new climate projections or monitoring data arrive), (c) training and certification for practitioners applying the methodology, and (d) integration services for public bodies to connect national hazard layers and reporting needs. The ability to justify prioritisation and funding with transparent, comparable metrics creates a clear value proposition that supports recurring use and long-term uptake.
