The use of DSS commonly enables reductionisms of 20% in water applied and 40% in N applied in vegetable crops. Through the divulgation activities, it was apparent there was considerable interest in the tool from younger technical advisors and farmers.

Current stage description

A prototype DSS has been developed. Currently, the DSS is being placed onto a web portal by an important local Extension service in Almeria. It will be freely available to the agricultural sector. Soon farmers will be obligated to prepare daily plans of N fertiliser recommendations. This tool is expected to be widely used for the preparation of these plans.

Sustainability

It is anticipated that tools such as this will be integrated into vegetable and crop production in the future. It is likely that this tool and derivation of it will be used for numerous years.
