Result description
The result is a precision manure application solution in which real-time NPK measurements from an on-board NIR sensor are combined with a pre-defined manure task map to control nutrient application at field level.
Concretely, this results in a field-specific and nutrient-driven application strategy where manure is no longer applied as a uniform volume, but as a targeted N, P and K dose adapted to local field conditions. The task map defines the spatial nutrient demand within the field, while the NIR sensor continuously measures the actual nutrient concentration of the manure during application. The system automatically translates this information into the required manure volume per location to achieve the intended nutrient rate.
By coupling real-time manure composition (NPK) with a spatial prescription map, the application system compensates for variability in both soil conditions and manure quality. This ensures that each field zone receives the correct nutrient amount, even when manure composition changes during spreading.

R&D, Technology and Innovation aspects
The solution combining on-board NIR-based NPK sensing with FMIS-generated manure task maps has reached demonstration level (TRL 6–7). The individual components are mature, and the integrated system has been successfully demonstrated under real field conditions. Further R&D is required to strengthen robustness, interoperability and scalability.
