Result description
A membrane functionalisation method that grafts charged groups onto porous nanochannel walls to tune fixed surface charge, improve ion selectivity, and enhance controlled ion transport. Demonstrated on aligned wood-derived cellulose membranes, the approach is transferable to other nanofluidic and ionic thermoelectric membrane platforms.
Addressing target audiences and expressing needs
- Grants and Subsidies
- Use of research Infrastructure
- Collaboration
Primary audience: follow-on funders, TTO/IP offices, and technical validation partners in membrane/device manufacturing.
Precise needs: public funding for maturation, IP/legal advice, and industrial collaboration for benchmarking, validation and scale-up assessment.
- Public or private funding institutions
- Research and Technology Organisations
- Academia/ Universities
R&D, Technology and Innovation aspects
This result is at an early stage: the methodology has been demonstrated in a lab, but additional work, including feasibility studies, IP review, benchmarking, durability testing, and application validation, is needed before commercial use. We seek follow-on public or translational R&D funding, as well as support from IP/tech transfer and manufacturing partners.
