Description

This call is part of the FRIPRO portfolio of curiosity-driven and bold research supporting both basic and applied research across all research areas. This specific call supports researchers at post-doctoral level who wish to spend 1-2 years at one or two foreign research organisations, combined with 1-2 years at a Norwegian research organisation, with the goal of boosting the researcher’s career development and independence, and bringing new knowledge to the Norwegian research environment.

Funding Amount

• Funding scale per project: Norwegian applicants can apply for NOK 4,700,000 to NOK 7,400,000.
• Total amount presumed available for the call: approximately NOK 40,000,000.

Submission Deadlines

• The call is open-ended, meaning applications can be submitted at any time as there is ongoing reception and processing.
• The project must start within 8-18 months after submission.

Submission Conditions

• The project manager must have submitted their doctoral thesis, and if it has been defended, it must have been less than 7 years ago (with allowable time exceptions).
• The project duration and the stay abroad must align with described requirements: the stay abroad must start no later than one year after project start, and at least 6 months of the Norwegian part must follow the last stay abroad.
• The applicant (Project Owner) must be an approved Norwegian research organisation.
• The project manager must meet the eligibility (doctoral thesis submitted; within the experience window).
• The foreign stay requirement: 1-2 years abroad and 1-2 years in Norway (with the Norwegian portion after the foreign stay) must be described in the application.
• The consortium can include foreign institutions (for the stay abroad component) but the main applicant is the Norwegian organisation.
• The application must be in English and all attachments in PDF.

Eligible Applicants

• Approved Norwegian research organisations (universities, research institutes) are eligible as applicants.
