Result description
The Lazaretto test has proved results of reductions of NOx between 10% to 20%, while being as high as 40% close to the walls where PURETi Coat was applied. A higher reduction was found in the first 50 cm, which is the height of small children that can be most affected by the exhaust pipes of cars. Pollution reductions of 50% should be achievable with more surface treatment. To assess the effectiveness of the photocatalytic coating, a state -of-the-art-modelling approaches such as computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) was applied. Measuring was made with two official EU mobile laboratories The cost-benefit analysis reported in iSCAPE for photocatalytic coating indicates that photocatalytic coating is one of the most cost-effective passive control solutions against pollution. For example, in Bologna, Italy, the cost of air pollution reaches the figure of 300M € per year while the cost of applying PURETi there would not exceed €15M per year which equals in pollution reduction to planting one million trees.

Urban applications are quite expensive from a test perspective. Municipalities want to try our solutions at our cost as a sample service. This requires expensive proving trials that involves academic institutions measuring and modelling our results and our resources are scarce. Although this in the iSCAPE Project Pureti was the best cost effective solution among the different solutions tested in the project to improve EU cities air quality.

R&D, Technology and Innovation aspects
We have proved our technology in different industries adding value to existing products. An industrial approach to manufacturers of products that are usually bought by city hall such as urban furniture, artificial turf, sport domes and stadiums has been made in an OEM strategy where different firms incorporate a final PURETi Coat treatment in the products to be offer at municipal markets.
