Result description
GRIDSOL project proposes Smart Renewable Hubs, a flexible hybrid plant that combines primary Renewable Energy Sources (RES) and storage technologies under a Dynamic Output Manager of Energy (DOME) that dispatches the electricity on a single output according to the availability and cost-effectiveness of each technology
GRIDSOL offers SRHs that are tailored to each location in order to optimise the energy production according to grid and market requirements. This enables the development of Hybrid Power Plants with energy storage to solve the need of flexibility in the power system. By helping to find the optimal size for SRHs, the practice can support the substitution of conventional power plants by selecting and combining the most suitable technologies at each individual location and is therefore fully transferable to other geographical regions.
The potential market for SRHs with energy storage is very high due to its great flexibility level which allow its adaptation to any location around the world by combining several renewable and storage technologies. GRIDSOL configuration has a big market in Southern Europe and isolated locations with a good solar resource worldwide. While SRH configuration has a wide market due to its more modular scalability worldwide.
