Functional SBA actuator manufactured by SLM

Result description

Harsh environment tests were performed to SBA actuators and showed to have high resistance. For instance, the actuators were able to remove all the water during the rain functional test. In addition, these actuators had an adequate aerodynamic behaviour.

Value Proposition:

The SLM process allows the decrease in weight of this actuator, reducing the Buy-to-fly ratio and making the manufacturing process more cost-effective than conventional processing. In addition, material is only applied where needed avoiding the scraps and waste of material, which in the case of Ti6Al4V is very expensive. Full testing of this actuator ensured its functionallity for real use.
