Result description
Secure Industrial IoT implementation for Airbus Defence & Space plants of Tablada, San Pablo Sur and Cadiz which assemble civil and military aricraft. The IIoT network embedds three types of systems which are distributed over the different plants: Roboshave is a highly automated rivet shaving system for aircraft rudders, Autoclave is a large industrial oven curing composite parts, Gap Gun is a non-contact laser profilometer that measures gaps and steps in aeronautical parts. The IIoT platform enables to collect, broadcast and exploit machine data as a mean to improve the aircraft manufacturing processes, facilitate control by operators, reduce inaccuracies and quality problems.
The demonstrator includes:
-Industrial Means: Roboshave, Autoclaves, Gap Guns
-Industrial Network: OPC-UA communication protocol, Kepware server, Thingworks gateway
-Information Network: Thigworx IIoT platform, PostGreSQL data base, Corporative applications and Intelligent analytics
-Security Layer: Airbus Collaborative OT CyberRange, Airbus IoT Fingerprint and CymID solutions, Airbus Collaborative Security Operation Center

The Industrial IoT architecture has been tsted against a large panel of cybersecurity attacks. It is a resilient solution that could be applied to other industries as an enabler for enhanced shop floor connectivity. Therefore we would like to market it beyond Airbus group in cooperation with IIoT vendors. The security offering includes: Airbus OT CyberRange which embedds digital twins of customer OT and supports penetration testing work; IoT Fingerprint solution which secures authentication of hand tools on the IoT network; and the Collaborative OT SOC which enables anomaly and attack detection on distributed OT environments.

R&D, Technology and Innovation aspects
The demonstrator has been tested against 14 complex attacks. It is already embedded in operational environment, but restricted to passive functions. It is integrated in Tablada Plant and runs additional tests for qualification before full entry into operations.
The clolud-based simulation environement provided by Airbus CyberRange can scale up fast and easily to embedded new users.
CymID platform for user and device access management is scalable to multiple thousands of assets.
Similarly the collaborative OT Security Operation Center can seamlessly embedd new local SOCs.
The virtual testing environemnet provided by Airbus CyberRange is indefinitely replicable with standard hardware requirements.
IoT Fingerprint solution relies on device hardware unique identification techniques which are vendor agnostic, therefore replicable indefinitely.
The local OT Security Operation Center can be replicated indefinitely by the use of standard and partially open-source components.
The use of highly virtualized technology and hosting of our solution i the Cloud have a ppositive effect on the enviroment by the fact that it reduces the need for harware acquisition in site to the strict minimum. Also, the exploitation of collected machine data by means of machine learning techniques supports process optimization, fault prediction and default detection, which singnificantly reduce energy wasted and material loss in manufacturing performance.
